"I really appreciate the approach that Tyrel has as he moves forward. He knows the type and kind he likes and doesn't stray. These foundation cows will be the perfect base to build his program around. Solid cows with proven pedigrees that have stayability. They are not the latest fad. This is the type of approach that will sustain a program for the long term, and more importantly will make its customers profitable."

I have had the privilege of working with Tyrel and Native Prairie genetics for the past three years. In those three years it is evident to see that Tyrell has developed a strategic plan to build a program that will service the most astute commercial cattleman. With todays mainstream Angus programs putting a lot of pressure on performance, carcass, and genomic merit. Tyrel has taken a different approach by placing an extreme emphasis on the functional traits that are hard to measure but very important to the longevity and sustainability of the angus beef cow. Tyrel has made several trips to South Dakota selecting a herd sire. He has taking the time to learn our cowherd and cow families making sure that they fit his parameters on udder, foot quality, fleshing ability and fertility. All while having look and phenotype that has made the angus cow famous for what she is today. I appreciate how Native Prairie genetics has taking the breeding approach and mating like kind to like kind instead of chasing extremes. We see cattle very much the same way in that we our herd bulls need to exhibit tremendous muscle shape, excellent structure and balance.

"Native Prairie Beef Genetics is founded on the principles of common-sense stockmanship by which the Nilhas family has built a commercial cow herd second to none! Tyrel is using this same discipline in creating an elite seedstock program - focused on the fundamentals of shape and structure, true performance and real maternal value."

"Tyrel & his family at Native Prairie Beef Genetics has loaded their program with a herd of cows that do not veer from their real world goals. As you travel the pastures among these cattle, commercial and registered alike, you see their high expectations at work. Quite simply, a herd of cows built correctly from the ground up, that are demanded to produce from the land and what mother nature provides. All of this without the sacrifice of phenotype or end product payweight. Truly a herd that I admire."
